Celestion Celebrates the Sounds of Metal Guitarist George Lynch with the Release of the Lynchback Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (December 13, 2017) —   In celebration of the legendary sounds of metal guitarist George Lynch, Celestion is pleased to announce the addition of the G12-50GL Lynchback IRs to their acclaimed line of Impulse Responses. With the original classic Lynchback being only the second signature guitar speaker that Celestion have ever produced in its 90+ year history, the G12-50GL Lynchback was built for, and named after, the legendary lead and rhythm guitarist George Lynch in 2011. Now, this unique rock speaker which delivers detailed vintage warmth to make your lead sound sing, joins the company’s extensive range of speaker Impulse Responses available for download at Celestion Plus.

Working in collaboration with George Lynch himself to create the original classic Lynchback, Celestion spent more than 2 years studying every aspect of the speaker’s design and construction to create a tone which was original, bespoke, and above all, personal to George. The resulting signature speaker is far more than simply a celebrity endorsement; every part of the speaker is a physical embodiment of George Lynch’s preferences and years of experience as a lead guitarist. The classic G12-50GL Lynchback speaker delivers the legendary and much-celebrated vintage tone of a G12M “Greenback” with the additional capability of producing a harder, more aggressive sound on demand. What you’ll get is a warm, vintage Celestion tone, with a modern edge and top end clarity.

“Everything is in the 10 percent,” says George Lynch. “You can have a speaker that’s 90% but if you don’t have that last 10%, that’s everything…it’s got to be everything or nothing.”

With a pedigree like that, the G12-50GL Lynchback is an Impulse Response that’s an essential addition to every guitar player’s collection.

Five individual IR varieties of the Lynchback are available for download, which correspond to each of 5 separate types of cabinet, including:

  • 1×12 (open back)
  • 1×12 (closed back)
  • 2×12 (open back)
  • 2×12 (closed back)
  • 4×12 (closed back)

Each cabinet’s IR has been captured using three famous microphones used in recording studios around the world. Each of these mics is placed in six different locations, capturing eighteen IRs in total.

Also included are eight more IR mixes for each of the cabinets. These have been created by mixing single IRs, giving additional options to create fantastic and unique tones. More information about mic combinations and placements used for each of these mixes as well as videos demonstrating the tone of the Lynchback for distortion, clean and crunch can be found at Celestion Plus.

The new Lynchback Impulse Responses  join others in the family of  classic Celestion IRs available, including the A-Type, Neo Creamback,  G12-H150 Redback,  G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65,  Celestion Blue and Vintage 30 models mounted in 1×12 and 2×12 open and closed back and 4×12 cabinets (5 varieties of each.) All the Celestion IRs are available for download both as an individual single cabinet-type IR as well as a full collection.  All Impulse Response flies are delivered in .wav format, making them compatible with most popular convolution plugins.

About Celestion Impulse Responses

Celestion IRs, which capture the essential behavior of the cabinet in the specific space in which it was recorded, including the frequency and phase response of single drivers as well as the interaction of multiple speakers, offer the user significant benefits. In both recording and live production, Celestion IRs enable the desired tone to be precisely and consistently reproduced regardless of the music recording or live sound environment. And IR users can escape the limitations of a single mic and cabinet setup and explore a universe of possibilities to create the perfect tone. Once you find a tone that you love, it can be precisely recreated, in the studio or on the road, time after time. And the IRs allow Celestion customers to audition specific models before purchasing one or more physical speakers.

Celestion IR digital downloads are available in uncompressed, industry standard .WAV format at 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz sample rates at 24 bit depth, in lengths of 200 and 500 milliseconds Once the files are downloaded and unzipped, users simply load the IRs into a convolution plug-in in their DAW or into other processing hardware. These formats will work in all known hardware capable of loading IRs, and for the most popular hardware Celestion have already grouped together the correct formats. Guitar processor manufacturers supported include Atomic Amps, Fractal Audio Systems, Kemper, Line 6, Logidy, Positive Grid, Two Notes, Headrush and Yamaha. The Celestion IR files may be downloaded in the sample rate and length appropriate for the hardware being used or as a complete package of all rates and lengths. Certain third party hardware requires the files to be converted into a proprietary format before use. Celestion Plus.
