About Orange Amps

Founded in London in 1968 by musician and electronics designer Clifford Cooper, Orange Amps have been cementing their place in music history for more than 50 years.

Clifford understood the rigours music equipment was subjected to on the road with touring musicians and was instrumental in ensuring that durability was at the forefront of Orange’s cabinet design. His range of cabinets were constructed with sturdy 15 and 18mm birch plywood and featured thick basketweave grille clothe, as well as the addition of two unique skid runners on their bases which improved low-end responsiveness by acoustically coupling the cabinets to the stage. Orange’s superior build-quality meant the cabs quickly became the go-to gear for rock legends, such as Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page, Fleetwood Mac’s Jeremy Spencer and John McVie, Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, as well as Jim Root and Noel Gallagher, and many others.

Orange’s product list has grown and evolved over the last half century to include a huge range amps, cabs, pedals and guitar and bass accessories.

Celestion Debuts the G12 EVH Impulse Responses – Now You Can Digitally Download the Eddie Van Halen Signature Speaker Tone

Ipswich, UK (January 30, 2019) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers with a celebrated history in creating the world’s renowned classic guitar tones, is pleased to introduce the new G12 EVH Impulse Response, as the latest addition to their acclaimed line of IRs, the definitive digital representations of the company’s classic guitar speaker tones. The G12 EVH was created for, and bears the initials of, one of the most influential rock guitarists of the last forty years – Eddie Van Halen. The new G12 EVH IRs, as well as the rest of the comprehensive family of Celestion IRs, are available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

Eddie Van Halen has been an avid user of Celestion Greenbacks from the outset of his career. So, when it came time to select speakers for his 5150-III signature 4×12, Van Halen chose the 20-watt Heritage Series G12M as the most faithful and familiar reproduction of his Greenback tone. And with the inclusion of a custom black rear can with the red, white and black stripes, the Celestion G12EVH guitar speaker was born.

Celestion’s EVH speakers are a key element of the renowned ‘brown sound’ associated with Van Halen’s early albums. The speaker is characterised by warm lows, a lush midrange and an expressive and refined treble. Drive hard for searing lead lines and an immensely satisfying rhythm and grind.

Countless guitarists have sought to reproduce the distinctive Van Halen sound over the years, and now their quest just got a whole lot easier, with the Celestion G12 EVH impulse responses, representing an authentic digital version of this classic speaker.

As with all Celestion IRs, five individual IR varieties of the new G12 EVH are available for download, which correspond to each of 5 separate types of cabinet, including: 1×12 (open back), 1×12 (closed back), 2×12 (open back), 2×12 (closed back) and 4×12 (closed back.) These can be purchased either separately, as an entire collection for a savings of over 50%, or as part of a Pick & Mix option. Celestion’s Pick & Mix option features IR combinations of either 3 or 5 cabinets from the company’s full range of IRs, offering customers flexibility and value pricing in building their personal IR library.

“Celestion are pleased to add the Eddie Van Halen signature speaker to our ever-growing family of versatile Impulse Responses,” says Nigel Wood, Celestion CEO. “Now customers can get closer to the legendary Van Halen sound at home or in the studio with the new Celestion G12 EVH IR, an authentic digital version of this signature speaker.”

The new G12 EVH IR joins the comprehensive range of professionally captured Celestion Impulse Responses which are available for purchase on Celestion Plus. Other models include the V-Type, G12T-75,  G12-50GL Lynchback, Classic Lead 80, Classic Gold, A-Type , Neo Creamback,  G12-H150 Redback,  G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65,  Cream, G12-35XC, Celestion Blue and Vintage 30 models. Celestion Debuts the Heritage G12M Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (November 7, 2018) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers known for creating the world’s renowned classic guitar tones, is pleased to announce the introduction of their latest Impulse Response the Heritage G12M IR.

This is the second IR release from Celestion’s acclaimed Heritage Series of iconic guitar speaker products, following on from the release of the Heritage G12H(55). The Heritage Series was designed to exactly recreate the tone and the look of iconic guitar speakers originally available in the 1960s and 70s. Celestion’s entire line of IRs, the original digital representations of the company’s classic guitar speaker tones, are available for download and audition with the rest of the comprehensive collection of tones at CelestionPlus.

Just like the original 1960s G12M, the Heritage G12M speaker impulse response gives you silky smooth tone with sweet, organic overdrive. The IR, like the classic speaker that it is named for, is available in a digital format for download and use in a wide range of DAWs and amp  modellers.

The Heritage G12M speaker is a faithful recreation of the original ‘60s Celestion G12M, the first of the company’s iconic speakers to feature the distinctive green rear can, earning it the nickname ‘Greenback’. Beloved of many 1960s blues and rock guitarists, including the legendary Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, the original Celestion G12M continued to inspire players into the ‘70s and beyond.

This modern day replica of an iconic speaker is built by hand using traditional construction methods and materials in order to recreate the seminal G12M tone as closely as possible. The result is a speaker that delivers a rich, vocal midrange, a well-articulated treble, and a warm, controlled low end, with plenty of crunch and compression when you “dig in”.

As with all Celestion IRs, five individual IR varieties of the new G12M are available for download, which correspond to each of 5 separate types of cabinet, including: 1×12 (open back), 1×12 (closed back), 2×12 (open back), 2×12 (closed back) and 4×12 (closed back.) These can be purchased either separately, or download the complete G12M IR collection for a substantial savings. Alternatively, add a cabinet to one of the company’s IR Pick & Mix options.

The new Heritage G12M  IR joins the comprehensive range of professionally captured Celestion Impulse Responses, which are available for purchase on Celestion Plus.  Other models include the A-TypeCelestion BlueCelestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Classic Lead 80, G12H 55Hz, G12K-100, G12-35XC ,  G12T-75,  G12-50GL Lynchback,   G12-H150 Redback,  G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo Creamback, V-Type, and  Vintage 30 models. Celestion Speaker Impulse Responses for Three of the Company’s Most Iconic Speakers Now Available in Two notes Proprietary Format

Ipswich, UK (October 30, 2018) — Celestion is delighted to announce that three of their most iconic speaker Impulse Responses – the Vintage 30, G12M Greenback and Celestion Blue, are now available in Two Notes format, for use with the company’s critically acclaimed Torpedo (Studio, Live, C.A.B) hardware, the speaker and miking simulation engine; and Wall of Sound software environment (a DAW plug-in version of Torpedo.)  The Celestion Impulse Responses have been fully re-created in Two notes’ proprietary format and are available both in the Two notes store, as well as alongside the full line of Celestion Impulse Responses on CelestionPlus.

This move is part of Celestion’s ongoing commitment to make Celestion speaker IRs available and easy to use on as many different hardware and software platforms as possible, giving customers maximum choice about which gear they can use to generate awesome and authentic Celestion tone.

With the Two notes IR format, users now have full access to all the available Wall of Sound functionality. These are all new IR captures, closely following the Two notes IR recording protocol. Each cabinet is recorded with 8 microphones, and the user has the capability to move around each microphone in the virtual room: an almost limitless number of IRs generated by the Two notes proprietary format. Each impulse response is fully compatible with the Overload Parameter (available in both Wall of Sound and Torpedo Studio), a unique non-linear convolution processing capability that is able to reproduce the distortion of the speaker when pushed hard.   And there is there’s no difference in quality between the current WAV files and the new Two notes’ format files. Customers get the same highly accurate speaker tones, simply in a format best tailored to the Two notes environment.

Furthermore, adding Celestion IRs to the Two notes environment means users also get the Celestion quality tone re-produced using five additional microphones: AKG C414EB, AKG D12, Beyer Dynamic M160, Coles 4038 and the Neumann U47.

Customers can still use Celestion’s standard WAV format IRs on Two notes’ hardware and software as before, but without the full functionality and additional microphones offered by the Two notes proprietary format.

Users who want the new Celestion IRs in two notes format have two options:

CelestionPlus website – Just choose ‘Two notes’ from the ‘Shop’ drop-down menu and click through to either Celestion Blue Two notes, G12M Two notes or Vintage 30 Two notes. From here you can select the speaker cabinet pack, or individual speaker cabinets.

Two notes website – Two notes format IRs are available from the Two notes store, as single cabinets or as speaker collection packs.

Celestion  plans to expand the range of speakers available in Two notes format in the future – so sign up to their newsletter here or follow the company on Twitter or Facebook for the latest announcements.

Celestion Debuts the Heritage G12H 55Hz Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (October 11, 2018) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers with a celebrated history in creating the world’s renowned classic guitar tones, is pleased to introduce the new Heritage G12H 55Hz Impulse Response, in homage to late 60’s rock guitar tones, as the latest addition to their acclaimed line of IRs, the definitive digital representations of the company’s classic guitar speaker tones. The new G12H (55) IRs, as well as the rest of the comprehensive family of Celestion IRs, are available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

The G12H (55) features a hefty 50oz ceramic magnet and a lower resonance 55Hz (aka 55 c/s) bass cone. This speaker was originally intended for use by bass guitarists, but was quickly adopted by lead players – most famously Jimi Hendrix – because of the warm ‘syrupy’ tones it delivered. In singles and pairs it delivers strong and warm lows – but it’s in a 4X12 configuration where it comes into its own, generating a great chugging ‘thump’ of the kind that that guitar heroes are made of. With a densely complex mid-range and a fine-grained treble, the G12H (55) is excellent for cranking out brooding power chords, complemented by smooth and rich bridge pickup tones and flute-like neck pickup tones.

Countless guitarists have sought to reproduce the distinctive Jimi Hendrix sound over the years, and now their quest just got a whole lot easier, with the Celestion Heritage G12H (55) impulse responses, representing an authentic digital version of this classic speaker.

As with all Celestion IRs, five individual IR varieties of the new G12H (55) are available for download, which correspond to each of 5 separate types of cabinet, including: 1×12 (open back), 1×12 (closed back), 2×12 (open back), 2×12 (closed back) and 4×12 (closed back.) These can be purchased either separately, or download the complete G12H (55) IR collection for a 40% saving. Alternatively, add a G12H (55) cabinet to one of our IR Pick & Mix options.

The new Heritage G12H 55Hz IR joins the comprehensive range of professionally captured Celestion Impulse Responses, which are available for purchase on Celestion Plus.  Other models include the A-TypeCelestion BlueCelestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Classic Lead 80, G12K-100, G12-35XC ,  G12T-75,  G12-50GL Lynchback,   G12-H150 Redback,  G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo Creamback, V-Type, and  Vintage 30 models. Celestion Debuts the G12T-75 Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (April 5, 2018) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers with a rich history in creating classic guitar tones known the world over, is pleased to debut the G12T-75 IR as the latest addition to their acclaimed line of Impulse Responses, the definitive digital representations of the company’s renowned classic tones. Famous as one of the world’s best-selling premium 4×12 speakers, Celestion’s classic G12T-75 guitar speaker has long been recognized for its combination of assertiveness and great clarity. Customers who desire this robust modern tone in an Impulse Response can audition and download the new G12T-75 IR at Celestion Plus.

Known also by many players as the T75, the Celestion G12T-75 was originally conceived in the 80’s, as a “hot rodded” more powerful version of the company’s G12M Greenback, ideally suited to the high gain amps that were becoming more common around that time. It’s hard to say whether the G12T-75 helped to influence the development of a more modern, industrial sound that characterised 80’s metal, or whether it was the other way around; but either way, it has become well established in the Celestion firmament, proving itself to be far more than just a speaker of its time.

As you might expect, the G12T-75 is much favoured among professional guitarists looking for a full-on, heavy but modern tone for metal or rock. Its punchy low end, aggressive mids and balanced highs have been incorporated by successive generations of metal artists from the 80’s through to today, such as Iron Maiden, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Deftones, Slipknot, Shadows Fall, Mastodon and beyond.

Five individual IR varieties of the G12T-75 are available for download, which correspond to each of 5 separate types of cabinet, including: 1×12 (open back), 1×12 (closed back), 2×12 (open back), 2×12 (closed back) and 4×12 (closed back.)

“Celestion is pleased to debut the G12T-75 IR as our first Impulse Response to be introduced in 2018, says Nigel Wood, Celestion CEO. “The speaker’s well-known heritage makes it a natural extension of our Impulse Response collection — providing our celebrated speaker tones in a convenient digitally downloadable format.”

The new G12T-75 Impulse Response will appeal to anyone who enjoys mixing up their tone with a touch of the unconventional or rebellious. Enjoy on its own for some hardcore, high volume grunge–or use it to complement the tone of one of your other favourite speakers for an unexpected tonal twist.

The new G12T-75 IR joins the ever-growing family of authentic Celestion Impulse Responses which are available for purchase on Celestion Plus,  including the G12-50GL Lynchback, Classic Lead 80, Classic Gold, A-Type , Neo Creamback,  G12-H150 Redback,  G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65,  Cream, G12-35XC, Celestion Blue and Vintage 30 models mounted in 1×12 and 2×12 open and closed back and 4×12 cabinets. Celestion’s new IR Pick & Mix option features combinations of either 3 or 5 cabinets from the company’s full range of IRs, offering customers complete flexibility and value pricing in building their personal IR library.
