Celestion adds the G10 Vintage to its Collection of Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (November 20, 2019) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers celebrated for their classic guitar tones, is pleased to introduce the G10 Vintage Collection of Impulse Responses.  The new Collection, along with the versatile collection of authentic Celestion guitar speaker tones, is available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

The Celestion G10 Vintage is the natural progression of the respected Vintage 10 speaker, delivering original British rock attitude with powerful and rich tones. Constructed using the same voice coil design as the iconic Vintage 30,  the G10 Vintage punches well above its weight for a 10-inch, 60-watt speaker. For players who want flexibility in their speaker set-up, the G10 Vintage is the perfect solution. With a meaty mid-range and a solid bass, the Celestion G10 Vintage speaker adds richness to hollow-sounding amps, as well as offering deeper, heavier, humbucker-type girth from single-coil guitars. Use in singles to add warm vocal tones to small valve combos or use in a 4×10 cabinet for a more aggressive, heavier rock sound.

The expert sound engineers at Celestion have worked tirelessly to accurately record the weighty yet eloquent tones of the Celestion G10 Vintage speaker in digital format as a range of speaker impulse responses available for digital download .

The complete tonal range of the G10 Vintage speaker is available to download in the following classic cabinet configurations.

  • 1×10 (open back)
  • 1×10 (closed back)
  • 2×10 (open back)
  • 2×10 (closed back)
  • 4×10 (closed back)

The G10 Vintage impulse responses were recorded at world-class facilities using the highest quality recording equipment and techniques available. Using three industry-standard professional microphones in six fully-adjustable locations around each cabinet arrangement, the full range of speaker tones are labelled within the Impulse Response files as:

  • Balanced
  • Bright
  • Fat
  • Thin

The Celestion Seventy 80 speaker was conceived in the late 1990s as the G12P-80 and has gone on to become one of the most popular and widespread guitar speakers that the company has ever produced, having found its way into a huge number of amps and cabs around the world. Delivering a modern, gutsy British sound, the Seventy 80 packs a serious punch, taking the sound of a ceramic magnet guitar speaker to new levels.

With a detailed and crisply defined tone, the Seventy 80 has a tightly controlled, hefty low-end with a punchy, aggressive and dynamic upper mid-range. Its top-end response is clear and glassy for enhanced treble and a full-range feel without compromising its undeniable Celestion character. The Seventy 80’s low notes are tight, partnered with an upper register that has definition, and clarity, making it an excellent choice for searing lead lines or sparkling rhythm work: for all the guitar parts that are needed to really cut through the mix. Now Celestion has captured the popular Seventy 80 tone in a digitally downloadable Impulse Response.

The Celestion Seventy 80 IR collection is available in five classic cabinet configurations including:

Celestion Introduces the Laney Cabinets Collection of Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (September 26, 2019) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers celebrated for their classic guitar tones, is pleased to announce that they have teamed up with iconic British amplifier manufacturer Laney Amplification to create the Laney Cabinets Collection of Impulse Responses.  The new Laney Cabinets Collection, along with the growing collection of authentic Celestion guitar speaker tones, is available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

Celestion and Laney Amps have created an entirely new range of cabinet impulse responses based on the unique tones of Laney’s Black Country Custom cabinets– the LA212 2×12 and the LA412 4×12. This new range of cabinet impulse responses is for guitarists, producers and musicians who want to achieve the exceptional tone Laney Cabs provide when loaded with two iconic Celestion speakers – the G12M Greenback and the Heritage Series G12H (75). This new addition to the Backline Heroes cabinet impulse response range allows users to perfectly replicate Laney tone whether experimenting at home, recording in the studio, or playing live onstage.

The legendary Laney Amplification was formed in 1967, when Lyndon Laney was playing in a local band, ‘The Band of Joy’, with John Bonham on drums and Robert Plant on vocals. Laney’s interest in electronics, combined with a lack of funds for a proper amplifier, led him to turn his hand to amp construction. Originally working out of his father’s West Midlands garage, Laney’s aim was to design and build amplifiers with certain tonal characteristics that were simply unheard of at the time.  Word quickly spread about the tone that could be achieved with these new Laney amps and he began selling to local musicians, including Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi. In 1970, Laney Amps’ signature tone was heard on Black Sabbath’s seminal, self-titled debut album, giving rise to the birth of a brand new genre: Heavy Metal. Demand for Laney’s amplifiers quickly grew too large for production to continue from a garage so manufacturing was moved temporarily to Digbeth’s infamous Custard Factory in Birmingham, then to Cradley Heath and finally to Halesowen in 2007. Since then, Laney Amps have grown and adapted to the market over the last 50 years to include a range of stunning cabs and pedals specially designed and built for guitars, bass, keyboards and drums.

The Laney Cabinet impulse responses, as with all genuine Celestion IRs, have been digitally captured by expert sound engineers in a world-class recording studio, meticulous recording techniques and state –of-the-art equipment. Celestion have used the same range of professional, studio mics (Shure SM57, Royer R-121 and Sennheiser MD421) in the same six fully-adjustable positions as the current range of cabinet impulse response to offer the same options – Balanced, Bright, Thin, Fat, Dark and Dark 2, as well as an additional rear mic for the open back cabinets.  Both of these Laney Cabinet impulse response have additionally been recorded using a Neumann TLM 107 room mic (Left, Right and Stereo) to allow users to mix in as much desired tone as required. Options are even available to choose the sample rate and sample length (200ms or 500ms).

The Celestion Laney Cabinet IR collection includes:

  • Laney LA212 2×12 – with Celestion G12M Greenbacks– The Laney LA212 is a 2×12 cabinet with a slanted design loaded with two Celestion G12M Greenbacks offset diagonally to give the speakers room to breathe. This ensures a hefty low-end response and unbelievably clear, resonant tones offering plenty of volume without any unwanted distortion.
  • Laney LA412 4×12 – Heritage Series G12H(75Hz)– The Laney LA412 is the authentic replica of the cab used by Tony Iommi for Black Sabbath’s recordings and tours until 1979. This single angle 4×12 cabinet is loaded with four classic Celestion Heritage Series G12H speakers and was constructed with the same marine-grade birch plywood in identical oversized dimensions as the original LA412. With its tight and defined lows and incredible upper-midrange, the LA412 projects an unmistakable sound that can be felt all the way to the depths of hell!

The Celestion Laney Cabinet IRs can be purchased individually or as a pair for a 35% discount.

The New Laney Cabinet IRs can be downloaded in either .WAV format to be installed and used on the majority of DAWs or amp-modelling gear, or formatted specifically for use with the Two notes Wall of Sound environment.

The Celestion Laney Cabinet Impulse Responses join Backline Heroes Suhr and Orange amplification, and Celestion’s comprehensive range of acclaimed guitar speaker Impulse Responses including:  A-TypeCelestion BlueCelestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Celestion Ruby, Classic Lead 80, G10 Greenback, Heritage G12H 55Hz, Heritage G12M, G12 EVH, G12K-100, G12-35XC, G12T-75,  G12-50GL Lynchback,   G12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo Creamback, V-TypeVintage 30 and other models as well as Bass IRs including the BN10-200XBN15-300X, PULSE10, PULSE12 and PULSE15.

Celestion Introduces the Neo 250 Copperback Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (March 27, 2019) —Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers whose classic guitar tones have made the company famous as the voice of rock and roll, is pleased to introduced the newest member of their celebrated line of Impulse Responses, the Neo 250 Copperback. The Copperback, a unique type of Celestion guitar speaker with an unparalleled blend of transparency, tonal nuance and dynamic response, is now available in digital download form at CelestionPlus.com.

While classic Celestion speakers offer the signature midrange presence, controlled cone break-up and overall musicality that has led the music community to consider them one of the most important elements of great guitar tone, the Neo 250 Copperback is designed with a different sonic goal in mind. The Copperback supplies purity of tone, without the cone break-up one would expect from a more traditional Celestion guitar speaker.

The Copperback speaker impulse response offers a sonic signature that delivers tight lows, neutral low-mids, defined upper-mids and well-controlled high treble. It enables you to shift from shimmering tubular-bell-like cleans to flute-like high gain with simply a tweak of the amplifier’s drive setting.

The Celestion Neo 250 Copperback impulse response is a highly-accurate digital representation of the unique and innovative Copperback guitar speaker. For those players who  want more transparency—revealing the best from an amplifier and playing—as well as less mid-range vocal intensity, the Celestion Neo 250 Copperback speaker impulse response offers gorgeous tone without the additional colouration associated with cone break-up.

Recorded by Celestion’s expert sound engineers using the same meticulous techniques as all the company’s best-selling IRs, the Neo 250 Copperback speaker impulse response was captured with three pro-quality studio microphones – the classic Shure SM57, a Royer R-121 ribbon mic and a Sennheiser MD421. Each of these mics were recorded in six different positions – named within the impulse response files as Balanced, Bright, Fat, Thin, Dark and Dark 2 – as well as a rear mic position for the open back cabs. The addition of a Neumann TLM107 room mic provides the user with a huge number of different mic mixes and range of unique tonal options.

The Celestion Neo 250 Copperback speaker impulse responses are available in five different cabinet configurations:

  • 1×12 (open back)
  • 1×12 (closed back)
  • 2×12 (open back)
  • 2×12 (closed back)
  • 4×12 (closed back)

The Neo Copperback impulse responses are downloaded in .WAV format for compatibility with most DAWs, IR plug-ins and amp modelling software.

The new  Neo Copperback 250 Impulse Responses joins the extensive family of genuine Celestion acclaimed guitar and bass speaker Impulse Responses such as the:  A-Type,  BN15-300X (Bass IR), Celestion BlueCelestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Classic Lead 80, Heritage G12H 55Hz, Heritage G12M, G12 EVH, G12K-100, G12-35XC G12T-75,  G12-50GL Lynchback,   G12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo CreambackPULSE10, PULSE12 and PULSE15, V-TypeVintage 30 and other models.

The Neo Copperback 250 single cabinets can also be included in a Pick & Mix selection.

Celestion Debuts the PULSE12 and BN15-300X Bass Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (March 18, 2019) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers whose classic guitar tones have made the company famous as the voice of rock and roll, is pleased to add two new Impulse Responses, the PULSE12 and the BN15-300X to their line of Bass Impulse Responses. The new Bass IRs, along with the complete collection of genuine Celestion speaker tones, is available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

Designed for today’s bass players who demand rock-solid bass tone, the Celestion PULSE12 bass speaker delivers the ideal combination of a rumbling low-end together with well-defined clarity and stunning articulation. Providing the quick, percussive attack of its PULSE10 little brother, while attaining the fullness and warmth of its PULSE15 big brother, the Celestion PULSE12 speaker offers formidable, rumbling lows with a rich, warm mid-range and a detailed, zingy top-end.

This brawny, Kevlar-loaded cone speaker pulses with up to 200 Watts of raw power for a meaty bass performance. Recorded using the same techniques by the Celestion sound engineers who created the company’s full range of guitar speaker IRs, this best-selling bass speaker is now available for the first time in digitally downloadable format,  in a 1×12 cabinet configuration, or as 1×12 with additional Playing Style Mixes.

And as Celestion realised early on that not every bass player wants a high-fidelity, super-clean bass tone, the company created the BN range of bass speakers. Primed for high-powered rock performances where a full-bodied, defined tone is essential, the BN15-300X is characterised by its warm, rich tone and powerful low-end thump, with an extended low-end and superior linear excursion.

With its mighty 15-inch, Kevlar-loaded speaker cone, the Celestion BN15-300X has a lightweight neodymium magnet to push out every note with 300 Watts of rich, warm tone and powerful low-end thump – which makes for more power and volume at half the weight.

The BN15-300X the first of Celestion’s BN bass speaker range to be accurately reproduced and available in digital form and was created using exactly the same recording processes as the entire range of best-selling guitar speaker impulse responses. The Celestion BN15-300X bass speaker impulse response is available in a 1×15 configuration, or as 1×15 with added Playing Style Mixes.

“We are very proud to introduce these two new additions to our line of Impulse Responses especially designed for Bass Players,” says Nigel Wood, Managing Director at Celestion. “Players who create their tone with amp modellers and emulators or direct into DAWs can make use of our Impulse Responses and be able to enjoy classic Celestion tone.”

Each of the new bass speaker impulse responses are downloaded in .WAV format for compatibility with most DAWs, IR plug-ins and amp modelling software.

The new  PULSE 12 and BN15-300X join other Bass IRs including the PULSE10 and PULSE15 Bass Impulse Responses as well as all the other genuine Celestion acclaimed guitar speaker Impulse Responses such as the:  A-TypeCelestion BlueCelestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Classic Lead 80, Heritage G12H 55Hz, Heritage G12M, G12 EVH, G12K-100, G12-35XC G12T-75,  G12-50GL Lynchback,   G12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo Creamback, V-TypeVintage 30 and other models.

The PULSE12 and BN15-300X single cabinets can also be included in a Pick & Mix selection.

The Pick & Mix option allows customers to select combinations of either 3 or 5 cabinets from the company’s full range of original IRs, offering flexibility in building a personal IR library at a significant savings compared to purchasing individual IRs.
