A-Type

Celestion guitar speakers have been an important part of British guitar tone since the birth of Rock & Roll. Traditionally they’re known for lively and vocal midrange character with plenty of sparkle and chime which turns into an exciting growl when overdriven often compressing when pushed hard.

Inspired by our favourite modern American tones the A-Type is a different kind of guitar speaker from Celestion. Of course it still has the musical and revealing three- dimensional quality that is the heart and soul of a Celestion guitar speaker however it features a more laid-back midrange which reveals body and complexity in the upper register accompanied by full and rounded low frequencies.

The A-Type conveys a fluid even performance with an increased headroom threshold that allows your amp’s tone to shine through. Clean players will love the smooth articulation; for rockers the brooding powerful low end threatens thunder that’s only a heavy riff away!

Celestion V-Type Speaker – Now Available as an IR

The Celestion V-Type speaker, launched in the summer of 2013, was designed to deliver vintage Celestion tone (The V stands for Vintage) but using modern construction techniques and materials.

Its tone was designed around elements of the G12M Greenback and G12H Creamback, but with a beefy 70W of power handling to cater for the contemporary guitarist.

With huge versatility across the frequency range, V-Type tone is now available as an IR, in a range of cabinet options. Find out more about the V-Type IR at this blog.

Celestion A-Type – Now Available as an Impulse Response

Launched in 2014, the A-Type is a 50 watt ceramic magnet guitar speaker which offers Celestion tone with an American flavour. This is most noticeable in the midrange, which is much more laid-back compared to our other classic speakers, and gives a warm, well-rounded tone. But mellow definitely does not mean muddy with the A-Type – the clarity and articulation are exceptional – especially for clean playing, but the definition stays strong for high gain playing too. There is a surprise at the low end too, with a big, blooming tone, great for rock or even metal.

Want to give the A-Type a whirl but not ready to replace your physical speakers yet? The A-Type is now available as an impulse response, in 5 different cabinet configurations. Find out more at the blog, or download the Celestion A-Type impulse responses here.
