G12K-100 (Legacy)

Celestion’s very own monster of rock the G12K- 100 makes full use of the heaviest G12 magnet to combine huge power handling with superb clarity across a wide frequency response. A massive bottom-end rock-hard mid-range and restrained top-end make this the perfect guitar speaker to add thump and grind to modern high-gain tones. Loaded in 4x12s it delivers its famous sledgehammer lows but it also often finds use in small boutique combos bringing a powerful mix of low-end warmth and mid-range attack.

G12 Century Vintage (Legacy)

In developing the G12 Century Vintage we set out to use our Neodymium technology to design a modern speaker with a distinctly classic vibe. The result is a unique blend of extraordinary note definition and vintage character.Exceptionally lightweight and loud with a tightly controlled low-end the Century Vintage exhibits a clear powerful mid-range and crisp bright top- end. With super-fast attack and superb tracking this neodymium guitar speaker is ideal for use in amps favoured by high-speed guitar players – both high gain rockers and clean country pickers.

G12T-75

Featured in what is probably the world’s top selling 4×12 cabinet the G12T-75 guitar speaker is a high powered rock player’s dream. Built to meet the demands of high gain amplifiers the G12T-75 combines a huge, tightly controlled low-end and aggressive mid-range, with a softened top-end that adds a welcome sweetness to overdrive distortion alongside aggressive upper harmonics.

These are the characteristics that make the G12T-75 the weapon of choice for Yngwie Malmsteen and Joe Satriani.

G12M Greenback

The G12M Greenback has evolved over the decades but still retains its essential sought- after tone. Angus Young has been a Greenback devotee since the early days of AC/DC.

This model is voiced with additional broad mid-range attack and restrained top-end to give a forward punchy attitude to chords and a searing lead tone without fizz. With its well-controlled low end it can be used singly in low-powered amps or in multiples for high-power rock heads. It’s an ideal guitar speaker to bring drive and definition to modern high gain amps.

G12H Anniversary

Originally re-released to celebrate our 70th Anniversary, the G12H guitar speaker remains hugely popular with players looking to recreate the classic sounds of 60s and 70s rock.

With a strong aggressive low-end and powerful low-mids the G12H penetrates any mix with an attacking upper mid-range and an ice-cool top- end. Used singly or in quartets it provides serious attitude to soft amp tones easily cutting through loud stage levels for chord work and imparting a hard edge to single notes. A favourite in the ’boutique’ amplifier market the G12H guitar speaker is often used on its own or paired with a Celestion Blue or Gold for a full-bodied sound that adds ceramic attitude to the chime of an Alnico speaker.

G12 EVH

Throughout his career, whether in the studio or on the stage, the Celestion 20-watt ‘Greenback’ has played an essential role to Edward Van Halen in making the tones that rewrote the book on guitar sound.

When it came time to select speakers for his new EVH Brand 5150-III signature amp, there was only one choice – Celestion. The Heritage Series G12M guitar speaker faithfully reproduces the sonic qualities of the original ’60s version Greenback used to make EVH tone from day one. With the addition of a black rear can featuring the EVH logo and his unmistakable red, white and black stripes, the G12EVH was born. Unmistakable look, but more importantly unmistakable tone.

Midnight 60

The Midnight 60 continues Celestion’s tradition of delivering rich, classic British tone in innovative new ways, featuring the moving parts that were inspired by the V-Type design, but with a different magnet assembly which has the effect of shifting the tonal balance to give a sonic character more reminiscent of Celestion’s vintage G12L speaker.

Whatever the genre, Midnight 60 provides an exhilarating sound in the classic Celestion style. Cleans are well balanced with just enough top end to make the high frequencies sparkle. Overdriven this speaker brings searing rock tones with plenty of low-end warmth and mid-band character.

Neo Creamback

The Neo Creamback is every ounce a Classic Celestion delivering all the magical tone you’d get from a traditional Creamback at around half the weight.

Voiced to be “in between” the G12M -65 and G12H-75 Creambacks, you still get the low end punch warm vocal midrange and sweet refined highs the Creamback is famous for: push it hard and enjoy the ‘race-car growl’ that sets pulses racing. But pick up a cab that’s loaded with Neo Creambacks and you’ll see what makes this speaker truly different.

Celestion Blue

This classic guitar speaker actually started life as a radio speaker that was modified specifically for use in electric guitar amplifiers. In its original G12 guitar speaker incarnation it appeared in several colour variations, but it was the Blue version, known as T.530 and fitted as standard into Vox AC30 amps that secured its place in guitar tone history.

The Blue found favour with notable guitarists like Brian May due to its glorious dampened attack warm lows mellow upper-mids and brilliant bell-like top-end. When coupled with a suitable amplifier it evokes rich definition and develops beautiful musical compression when pushed. According to tone enthusiasts worldwide the Blue is the benchmark for guitar speaker perfection.

Celestion Celebrates their 100th Anniversary with the Debut of the Celestion 100, a Special G12 Alnico Guitar Speaker, at NAMM 2024

Anaheim, CA (January 24, 2024) — At the 2024 NAMM Show, Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers and pro audio drivers for sound reinforcement applications, kicks off the celebration of their 100th anniversary with the introduction of an artisanal, 12-inch speaker, the Celestion100. Paying tribute to Les Ward — Celestion’s chief engineer until 1979 — the Celestion 100 channels the legacy and tone of the Celestion’s G12 speakers from the late 1950s and early 1960s including the Alnico Blue, the first speaker ever purpose-built for the electric guitar.

By the late 1950s, it was clear that the popularity of rock and roll music was an unstoppable juggernaut. Since its central instrument was the electric guitar, and guitar players were crying out for more powerful amplifiers, Mr. Ward sought a design that could withstand the increased heat and vibration the guitar imposed upon a speaker in those newer, beefier amps. A strengthened version of the original G12, which began life as a general-purpose speaker meant for radios, was the fruit of his efforts. Further refinement produced the T530, also called the “Alnico Blue” because of its blue basket frame.

The Alnico Blue worked so well that it was installed in Vox AC15 and AC30 amplifiers (a favorite of The Beatles) which powered the British Beat invasion of the early 1960s. Its close sibling, the silver-framed T652 was adopted by Marshall, the amplifier brand most universally associated with heavy metal and British rock, soon afterwards becoming the original Celestion driver for legendary Marshall amps such as the 1962, aka the “Bluesbreaker.”

The G12 has long been the gift that keeps on giving; Celestion’s current product family includes many variations with frequency responses and power handling capacities tailored to different musical applications and genres. The new Celestion 100 sits at the head of this table, inspired by the unique tones of those early alnico speakers, not just the T530 and T652, and some of the earlier models too, including the much rarer B024 and CT3757. To achieve this, Celestion has formulated an all-new cone, benchmarking it against perfectly preserved vintage cones as development progressed. Edge treatment is thin and light, carefully measured to enhance the cone’s resiliency during excursion, while bringing out the best of the cone’s performance.

In the new Celestion 100, the voice coil is likewise based on Les Ward’s original T530 design but has been carefully re-created with more heat-resistant materials to match the vintage tonality, while offering a power rating of 30 watts, and peak sound pressure level of 100dB. The cone’s dust dome, bolt-on magnet assembly and rear-label have been painstakingly designed to ensure a period-correct appearance.

Players and listeners can expect a blooming low end and bell-like treble coupled with a sweet, shimmering midrange presence. When driven into distortion, the Celestion 100 compresses gradually and musically, softening the notes’ attack in the tradition of great Celestion alnico speakers. It all adds up to tone and aesthetics that are as credibly vintage as any speaker can achieve, but with performance that is perfectly at home in a modern live performance or music production context.

Each Celestion 100 speaker is individually tested and inspected. An identity label puts the finishing touch on the ownership experience, providing a unique serial number as well as a traditional Celestion T-number: T100 for 8-ohm versions of the speaker and T101 for 16 ohms. Musicians who acquire the Celestion 100 anniversary guitar speaker will have the pleasure of owning a true retro-styled, vintage classic based on the first loudspeakers created specifically for the electric guitar.

See and hear the Celestion 100 at booth 6302 in the main hall of the Anaheim Convention Center, January 25-28, 2024, in Anaheim, California.
