Celestion Introduces the Neo 250 Copperback Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (March 27, 2019) —Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers whose classic guitar tones have made the company famous as the voice of rock and roll, is pleased to introduced the newest member of their celebrated line of Impulse Responses, the Neo 250 Copperback. The Copperback, a unique type of Celestion guitar speaker with an unparalleled blend of transparency, tonal nuance and dynamic response, is now available in digital download form at CelestionPlus.com.

While classic Celestion speakers offer the signature midrange presence, controlled cone break-up and overall musicality that has led the music community to consider them one of the most important elements of great guitar tone, the Neo 250 Copperback is designed with a different sonic goal in mind. The Copperback supplies purity of tone, without the cone break-up one would expect from a more traditional Celestion guitar speaker.

The Copperback speaker impulse response offers a sonic signature that delivers tight lows, neutral low-mids, defined upper-mids and well-controlled high treble. It enables you to shift from shimmering tubular-bell-like cleans to flute-like high gain with simply a tweak of the amplifier’s drive setting.

The Celestion Neo 250 Copperback impulse response is a highly-accurate digital representation of the unique and innovative Copperback guitar speaker. For those players who  want more transparency—revealing the best from an amplifier and playing—as well as less mid-range vocal intensity, the Celestion Neo 250 Copperback speaker impulse response offers gorgeous tone without the additional colouration associated with cone break-up.

Recorded by Celestion’s expert sound engineers using the same meticulous techniques as all the company’s best-selling IRs, the Neo 250 Copperback speaker impulse response was captured with three pro-quality studio microphones – the classic Shure SM57, a Royer R-121 ribbon mic and a Sennheiser MD421. Each of these mics were recorded in six different positions – named within the impulse response files as Balanced, Bright, Fat, Thin, Dark and Dark 2 – as well as a rear mic position for the open back cabs. The addition of a Neumann TLM107 room mic provides the user with a huge number of different mic mixes and range of unique tonal options.

The Celestion Neo 250 Copperback speaker impulse responses are available in five different cabinet configurations:

  • 1×12 (open back)
  • 1×12 (closed back)
  • 2×12 (open back)
  • 2×12 (closed back)
  • 4×12 (closed back)

The Neo Copperback impulse responses are downloaded in .WAV format for compatibility with most DAWs, IR plug-ins and amp modelling software.

The new  Neo Copperback 250 Impulse Responses joins the extensive family of genuine Celestion acclaimed guitar and bass speaker Impulse Responses such as the:  A-Type,  BN15-300X (Bass IR), Celestion BlueCelestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Classic Lead 80, Heritage G12H 55Hz, Heritage G12M, G12 EVH, G12K-100, G12-35XC G12T-75,  G12-50GL Lynchback,   G12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo CreambackPULSE10, PULSE12 and PULSE15, V-TypeVintage 30 and other models.

Celestion Debuts the PULSE12 and BN15-300X Bass Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (March 18, 2019) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers whose classic guitar tones have made the company famous as the voice of rock and roll, is pleased to add two new Impulse Responses, the PULSE12 and the BN15-300X to their line of Bass Impulse Responses. The new Bass IRs, along with the complete collection of genuine Celestion speaker tones, is available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

Designed for today’s bass players who demand rock-solid bass tone, the Celestion PULSE12 bass speaker delivers the ideal combination of a rumbling low-end together with well-defined clarity and stunning articulation. Providing the quick, percussive attack of its PULSE10 little brother, while attaining the fullness and warmth of its PULSE15 big brother, the Celestion PULSE12 speaker offers formidable, rumbling lows with a rich, warm mid-range and a detailed, zingy top-end.

This brawny, Kevlar-loaded cone speaker pulses with up to 200 Watts of raw power for a meaty bass performance. Recorded using the same techniques by the Celestion sound engineers who created the company’s full range of guitar speaker IRs, this best-selling bass speaker is now available for the first time in digitally downloadable format,  in a 1×12 cabinet configuration, or as 1×12 with additional Playing Style Mixes.

And as Celestion realised early on that not every bass player wants a high-fidelity, super-clean bass tone, the company created the BN range of bass speakers. Primed for high-powered rock performances where a full-bodied, defined tone is essential, the BN15-300X is characterised by its warm, rich tone and powerful low-end thump, with an extended low-end and superior linear excursion.

With its mighty 15-inch, Kevlar-loaded speaker cone, the Celestion BN15-300X has a lightweight neodymium magnet to push out every note with 300 Watts of rich, warm tone and powerful low-end thump – which makes for more power and volume at half the weight.

The BN15-300X the first of Celestion’s BN bass speaker range to be accurately reproduced and available in digital form and was created using exactly the same recording processes as the entire range of best-selling guitar speaker impulse responses. The Celestion BN15-300X bass speaker impulse response is available in a 1×15 configuration, or as 1×15 with added Playing Style Mixes.

“We are very proud to introduce these two new additions to our line of Impulse Responses especially designed for Bass Players,” says Nigel Wood, Managing Director at Celestion. “Players who create their tone with amp modellers and emulators or direct into DAWs can make use of our Impulse Responses and be able to enjoy classic Celestion tone.”

Each of the new bass speaker impulse responses are downloaded in .WAV format for compatibility with most DAWs, IR plug-ins and amp modelling software.

The new  PULSE 12 and BN15-300X join other Bass IRs including the PULSE10 and PULSE15 Bass Impulse Responses as well as all the other genuine Celestion acclaimed guitar speaker Impulse Responses such as the:  A-TypeCelestion BlueCelestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Classic Lead 80, Heritage G12H 55Hz, Heritage G12M, G12 EVH, G12K-100, G12-35XC G12T-75,  G12-50GL Lynchback,   G12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo Creamback, V-TypeVintage 30 and other models.

The PULSE12 and BN15-300X single cabinets can also be included in a Pick & Mix selection.

The Pick & Mix option allows customers to select combinations of either 3 or 5 cabinets from the company’s full range of original IRs, offering flexibility in building a personal IR library at a significant savings compared to purchasing individual IRs.

About Orange Amps

Founded in London in 1968 by musician and electronics designer Clifford Cooper, Orange Amps have been cementing their place in music history for more than 50 years.

Clifford understood the rigours music equipment was subjected to on the road with touring musicians and was instrumental in ensuring that durability was at the forefront of Orange’s cabinet design. His range of cabinets were constructed with sturdy 15 and 18mm birch plywood and featured thick basketweave grille clothe, as well as the addition of two unique skid runners on their bases which improved low-end responsiveness by acoustically coupling the cabinets to the stage. Orange’s superior build-quality meant the cabs quickly became the go-to gear for rock legends, such as Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page, Fleetwood Mac’s Jeremy Spencer and John McVie, Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, as well as Jim Root and Noel Gallagher, and many others.

Orange’s product list has grown and evolved over the last half century to include a huge range amps, cabs, pedals and guitar and bass accessories.

Ipswich, UK (October 30, 2018) — Celestion is delighted to announce that three of their most iconic speaker Impulse Responses – the Vintage 30, G12M Greenback and Celestion Blue, are now available in Two Notes format, for use with the company’s critically acclaimed Torpedo (Studio, Live, C.A.B) hardware, the speaker and miking simulation engine; and Wall of Sound software environment (a DAW plug-in version of Torpedo.)  The Celestion Impulse Responses have been fully re-created in Two notes’ proprietary format and are available both in the Two notes store, as well as alongside the full line of Celestion Impulse Responses on CelestionPlus.

This move is part of Celestion’s ongoing commitment to make Celestion speaker IRs available and easy to use on as many different hardware and software platforms as possible, giving customers maximum choice about which gear they can use to generate awesome and authentic Celestion tone.

With the Two notes IR format, users now have full access to all the available Wall of Sound functionality. These are all new IR captures, closely following the Two notes IR recording protocol. Each cabinet is recorded with 8 microphones, and the user has the capability to move around each microphone in the virtual room: an almost limitless number of IRs generated by the Two notes proprietary format. Each impulse response is fully compatible with the Overload Parameter (available in both Wall of Sound and Torpedo Studio), a unique non-linear convolution processing capability that is able to reproduce the distortion of the speaker when pushed hard.   And there is there’s no difference in quality between the current WAV files and the new Two notes’ format files. Customers get the same highly accurate speaker tones, simply in a format best tailored to the Two notes environment.

Furthermore, adding Celestion IRs to the Two notes environment means users also get the Celestion quality tone re-produced using five additional microphones: AKG C414EB, AKG D12, Beyer Dynamic M160, Coles 4038 and the Neumann U47.

Customers can still use Celestion’s standard WAV format IRs on Two notes’ hardware and software as before, but without the full functionality and additional microphones offered by the Two notes proprietary format.

Users who want the new Celestion IRs in two notes format have two options:

CelestionPlus website – Just choose ‘Two notes’ from the ‘Shop’ drop-down menu and click through to either Celestion Blue Two notes, G12M Two notes or Vintage 30 Two notes. From here you can select the speaker cabinet pack, or individual speaker cabinets.

Two notes website – Two notes format IRs are available from the Two notes store, as single cabinets or as speaker collection packs.

Celestion  plans to expand the range of speakers available in Two notes format in the future – so sign up to their newsletter here or follow the company on Twitter or Facebook for the latest announcements.

And to participants of the Guitar Summit who visit the Tube Amp Doctor booth, Celestion will be giving away a copy of their special “God of Thunder” IR Mix.  The Gods of Thunder Mix was created specially by Celestion for this event.

First, all three spot mics (Royer R-121, Sennheiser MD421 and Shure SM57) were “simultaneously” located in the Dark 2 position of a Celestion G12-65 4×12 cab and mixed together to deliver a sound of both colossal weight and thrilling detail…. and then they took the mix to another level! Next up a Royer 121 mic on a Celestion G12H-75 Creamback 4×12 cab, again in the Dark 2 location, adding supplementary low end and turning the G12-65 darkness into rolling thunder. An SM57 at the rear of a Celestion Creamback H 1×12 cab and a G12-65 4×12 room mic complete the mix by adding ambience, space and three dimensional complexity for a tone that’s big enough to fill the halls of Valhalla!

About Celestion Impulse Responses

Celestion IRs, which capture the essential behavior of the cabinet in the specific space in which it was recorded, including the frequency and phase response of single drivers as well as the interaction of multiple speakers, offer the user significant benefits. In both recording and live production, Celestion IRs enable the desired tone to be precisely and consistently reproduced regardless of the music recording or live sound environment. And IR users can escape the limitations of a single mic and cabinet setup and explore a universe of possibilities to create the perfect tone. Once you find a tone that you love, it can be precisely recreated, in the studio or on the road, time after time. And the IRs allow Celestion customers to audition specific models before purchasing one or more physical speakers.

Celestion IR digital downloads are available in uncompressed, industry standard .WAV format at 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz sample rates at 24 bit depth, in lengths of 200 and 500 milliseconds Once the files are downloaded and unzipped, users simply load the IRs into a convolution plug-in in their DAW or into other processing hardware.
