About Celestion Impulse Responses
Celestion IRs, which capture the essential behavior of the cabinet in the specific space in which it was recorded, including the frequency and phase response of single drivers as well as the interaction of multiple speakers, offer the user significant benefits. In both recording and live production, Celestion IRs enable the desired tone to be precisely and consistently reproduced regardless of the music recording or live sound environment. And IR users can escape the limitations of a single mic and cabinet setup and explore a universe of possibilities to create the perfect tone. Once you find a tone that you love, it can be precisely recreated, in the studio or on the road, time after time. And the IRs allow Celestion customers to audition specific models before purchasing one or more physical speakers.

Celestion IR digital downloads are available in uncompressed, industry standard .WAV format at 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz sample rates at 24 bit depth, in lengths of 200 and 500 milliseconds Once the files are downloaded and unzipped, users simply load the IRs into a convolution plug-in in their DAW or into other processing hardware. These formats will work in all known hardware capable of loading IRs, and for the most popular hardware Celestion have already grouped together the correct formats. Guitar processor manufacturers supported include Atomic Amps, Fractal Audio Systems, Kemper, Line 6, Logidy, Positive Grid, Two Notes, Headrush and Yamaha. The Celestion IR files may be downloaded in the sample rate and length appropriate for the hardware being used or as a complete package of all rates and lengths. Retail Warranty Policy

The warranty on Celestion loudspeaker products is valid for three (3) years from date of initial purchase. Celestion’s retail product warranty covers the original purchaser and any subsequent owners, provided the product was originally purchased from an authorised Celestion distributor or reseller. If you are making a warranty claim it’s important to provide an original and dated proof of purchase or the claim cannot be processed.

This warranty covers damage specifically arising from defects in materials and manufacturing. Your speaker is not covered if damage has: been caused by product modification, accident, neglect, misuse, abuse;  been incurred during transportation; resulted from repairs, alterations, or misrepresentation by the reseller; been caused during initial shipping, for example a bent chassis*.

Note, the warranty will not cover any product that has had labels or date code defaced, modified or removed.

*All speakers are individually inspected at the factory before packing. Goods dropped from a height can become damaged, even with no sign of external box damage, therefore damage of this type must be claimed from the delivery company.

Retail warranty claim process

1.     My speaker came loaded in a cabinet

If the speaker came to you loaded into a “finished product” for example a guitar combo or sound reinforcement cabinet, then the warranty claim will be processed by that product’s manufacturer. In this case, the speaker is covered under warranty for the same period as the finished product.  Please contact the manufacturer of that finished product, or the reseller from where it was purchased, for more information on how to process your warranty claim.

2.     My speaker came from a store/online reseller

If the speaker was originally bought from an authorised Celestion reseller such as an online retailer or a store, then the warranty period is three (3) years and the claim will be processed by that reseller. To make a warranty claim, simply follow these steps:

  • Communicate your claim directly to the reseller the product was bought from and ensure you provide a proof of purchase/receipt.
  • Goods must be kept until a final decision is made by the reseller in conjunction with Celestion. Sometimes it may be necessary to have the faulty product returned to Celestion for inspection.
  • Return of goods under warranty should be arranged and paid for by the purchaser. This will be reimbursed if the claim is successful.
  • Repair, replacement or credit will be at the reseller’s discretion and will be provided in full, once the claim has been approved.
  • Shipping of replacement or repaired goods will be arranged by the reseller at their cost.

Celestion Announces the Availability of the Ruby Guitar Speaker Impulse Responses in Two notes Format

Ipswich, UK (March 24, 2020) —Celestion is delighted to announce the availability of their Celestion Ruby Two Notes Guitar Speaker Impulse Responses, for use with the critically acclaimed Torpedo (Studio, Live, C.A.B) hardware, the speaker and miking simulation engine; and Wall of Sound software environment (a DAW plug-in version of Torpedo.)  The Celestion Ruby Two Notes Impulse Responses have been fully re-created in Two Notes’ proprietary format and are available both in the  Two Notes store, as well as alongside the full line of other genuine Celestion Impulse Responses on CelestionPlus.

The Celestion Ruby

Two Notes speaker impulse responses ooze rich musical warmth and bring a familiar alnico vibe, complete with mellow highs and a sophisticated midrange. This Two notes speaker impulse response is the perfect digital representation of the Celestion Ruby delivering a mellow clean sound and rich, saturated gain tones all without sacrificing any of the character you’d expect from Celestion’s world-famous alnico speakers. Recorded in a world-class live room, the new Ruby Two Notes speaker impulse response collection provides a rich variety of guitar speaker tonality, with depth, balance and supreme musicality.

The Celestion Ruby impulse responses in Two Notes format include five different cabinet configurations, available both individually and as a collection:

1×12 (open back)

1×12 (closed back)

2×12 (open back)

4×12(closed back)

The Two notes IR format gives users full access to all the available functionality of the Two notes environment. These are all new IR captures, closely following the Two notes IR recording protocol. Each cabinet is recorded with 8 microphones, and the user has the capability to move around each microphone in the virtual room: an almost limitless number of IRs generated by the Two notes proprietary format. Each impulse response is fully compatible with the Overload Parameter (available in both Wall of Sound and Torpedo Studio), a unique non-linear convolution processing capability that is able to reproduce the distortion of the speaker when pushed hard.   And there is there’s no difference in quality between the current WAV files and the new Two notes’ format files. Customers get the same highly accurate speaker tones, simply in a format best tailored to the Two notes environment.

Furthermore, adding Celestion IRs to the Two notes environment means users also get the Celestion quality tone re-produced using five additional microphones: AKG C414EB, AKG D12, Beyer Dynamic M160, Coles 4038 and the Neumann U47.

Customers can still use Celestion’s standard WAV format IRs on Two notes’ hardware and software as before, but without the full functionality and additional microphones offered by the Two Notes proprietary format.

The new Celestion Two Notes Ruby Impulse Responses join the collection of other IRs available in Two Notes format such as: Neo 250 Copperback (Two Notes,) Laney cabinets (Two Notes,) Orange Cabinets (Two Notes,)  Suhr Cabinets (Two Notes,) Celestion Blue (Two Notes,)  G12M Greenback (Two Notes) and Vintage 30 (Two Notes.)

Celestion Introduces the G10 Creamback Guitar Speaker Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (March 19, 2020) —Celestion, the world’s premier designer and manufacturer of guitar loudspeakers and well-known as the voice of rock and roll behind many of the world’s most memorable guitar performances,  is pleased to announce the addition of the G10 Creamback Impulse Responses to its impressive collection of Celestion Impulse Responses available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

The G10 Creamback guitar speaker delivers rich classic Celestion Creamback tone in a smaller 10” format. With a ceramic magnet, a 1.75-inch voice coil, and 45-watts of power handling, the G10 Creamback is built using the same production methods and materials developed for the 12” Creambacks; and just like its bigger brothers, the G10 Creamback is hand-built in the UK. Punchy and dynamic, exactly as you’d expect from a 10; its tone is warm, expressive, detailed and well-balanced. Now the G10 Creamback guitar speaker has been captured as an IR, an accurate digital representation which provides all the warmth and detail that guitar players love about the physical 10” Creamback.

The G10 Creamback speaker impulse response collection includes five different cabinet configurations:

1×10 (open back)

1×10 (closed back)

2×10 (open back)

2×10 (closed back)

4×10 (closed back)

Each one of the cabinet configurations was recorded with painstaking accuracy by our expert sound engineers, in a world-class studio, using three pro-grade studio microphones – the Sennheiser MD421, Royer R-121 ribbon mic and Shure SM57 – each in six different positions (plus a rear mic for the open back cabs). All the positions are referred to in the IR files as Balanced, Bright, Fat, Thin, Dark and Dark 2.  A Neumann TLM107 room mic was also used to provide additional mic mixes, giving users an impressive range of tonal options.

As with all genuine Celestion IRs, the new G10 Creamback impulse responses are downloaded in .WAV format for compatibility with most DAWs, IR plug-ins and amp modelling software.

The new G10 Creamback IRs join the extensive collection of genuine Celestion Impulse Responses, with guitar IRs such as the A-TypeCelestion BlueCelestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Classic Lead 80, Heritage G12H 55Hz, Heritage G12M, G12 EVH, G12K-100, G12-35XC, G12T-75,  G12-50GL LynchbackG12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo Creamback, V-TypeVintage 30  and bass impulse responses such as the BL10-100X, BN15-400X, BN10-200X, BN15-300X, PULSE10, PULSE12 and PULSE15.

Celestion Boosts their Line of Bass Impulse Responses with the New BL10-100X and BN15-400X IRs

Ipswich, UK (February 18, 2020) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers whose classic guitar tones have made the company world-renowned, is pleased to add  two new bass speaker impulse responses, the BN15-400X and BL10-100X, to their collection of Bass Impulse Responses. The new Bass IRs, along with the complete collection of other authentic Celestion bass and guitar speaker tones, is available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

The Celestion BN15-400X has often been a go-to bass speaker for those looking for a thunderous low-end performance. For those looking for a warm bass tone that never sacrifices punch, this speaker is purpose-built to command the bottom line with a driving, rhythmic thump.

The Celestion BL10-100X is built for bass without compromise – this 10” 100-Watt bass guitar speaker delivers heavy-duty presence with drive, clarity and full-bodied tone. Designed for an extended, balanced low-end, punchy mid-range and just enough treble “zing”, the Celestion BL10-100X is characterised by huge amounts of linear excursion ideal for high-powered rock performances.

Now the Celestion BN15-400X and BL10-100X bass speakers have been faithfully captured as bass speaker impulse responses. Both the Celestion BN15-400X and BL10-100X bass speaker impulse responses are available for download in 2×10 (Ported) and 4×10 (Closed Back) cabinet configurations – or as a Bass Bundle with added Playing Style mixes.

Celestion’s complete range of impulse responses includes a number of options for bass players, featuring many of the company’s best-selling bass guitar speakers. And Celestion’s meticulous impulse response capture process has been used for the company’s bass IRs.

In particular, this meant selecting the most appropriate microphones for recording bass guitar.

Each speaker has been recorded in the most popular cabinet combinations for that speaker type, with three different microphones – a Sennheiser MD421, Neumann U47 FET and AKG D112 – each in six different positions for additional tonal variety, creating an extensive IR library for each speaker. Also included is a room mic recording using a Neumann TLM 107 (the same room mic used for our regular IRs.)

A new addition to the bass impulse responses is an extra high frequency recording (using a Neumann KM84), which can be used on its own or mixed with one of the other microphones to add an extra bit of ‘zing’ to the top-end.

And the Bass Impulse Responses feature a selection of extra mic mixes for you to experiment with, including: D112+KM84, U47+KM84, MD421+KM84, D112+MD421+KM84, U47+MD421+KM84, U47+D112+KM84, All mics, All mics+Room Stereo and All mics+Room Mono.

New “Playing Style” packs are also available separate add on options, which have optimised the IRs for a range of different playing methods: Finger basic, Finger warmth detail, Plectrum (Pick) basic, Plectrum (Pick) aggressive and Slap.

As with all genuine Celestion IRs, each of the new bass speaker impulse responses are downloaded in .WAV format for compatibility with most DAWs, IR plug-ins and amp modelling software.

Celestion Debuts the Midnight 60 Guitar Speaker at Winter NAMM 2020

Anaheim, CA (January 16, 2020) —Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers whose classic guitar tones have made the company famous as the voice of rock and roll, is very pleased to debut the new Midnight 60 loudspeaker at Winter NAMM 2020 (Booths 7602 and ACC North 18500).

This exciting new guitar speaker has come from the same development processes, and has been heavily based upon the extremely successful V-Type. The Midnight 60 continues Celestion’s tradition of delivering rich, classic British tone in innovative new ways, featuring the moving parts that were derived from the V-Type design, but with a different magnet assembly which has the effect of shifting the tonal balance to give a sonic character more reminiscent of a Celestion’s vintage G12L speaker.

Whatever the playing style, Midnight 60 provides an exhilarating sound in the classic Celestion style. Cleans are well-balanced with just enough top end to make the high frequencies sparkle. Overdriven this speaker brings searing rock tones, with plenty of low-end warmth and mid-band character.

The world’s first Full Range Live Response speaker

The F12-X200 is the world’s first Full Range LIVE Response guitar speaker.

For guitar players who use modelling and profiling amps, a full range flat response loudspeaker is viewed as highly desirable for delivering the output of your emulated set-up in all its glory. While this can provide an impressive amount of detail and fidelity, it can also lack the physicality and the tactile and auditory feedback you get from playing through a bona-fide guitar speaker. It feels different, colder, more sterile perhaps.

The current breed of FRFR speakers are pro audio drivers, constructed to provide as neutral and linear output as possible. Very different from a guitar speaker which is purpose-designed to break-up into harmonic resonances—to produce musical sounding distortion—done by using thinner cones together with other sympathetic materials.

The F12-X200 Full Range Live Response speaker brings both of these characteristics together in one  loudspeaker. It truly is a full range driver: delivering a frequency response from 60Hz all the way up to 20kHz. The higher frequency part of the signal is reproduced using a Celestion compression driver which has been integrated using a high quality crossover circuit. This enables the X200 to reproduce the full spectrum of audible frequencies, for the most accurate output possible, whatever environment and set-up you might be emulating.

The X200’s response is remarkably neutral, with Celestion technology built into ensure there are no unwanted colourations that can overpower the input signal. However it has been built with the lighter moving mass and straighter sided cone of the type commonly used with guitar speakers and this really does gives the X200 much more of the feel of a traditional guitar speaker. The whole response of the speaker is LIVE, delivering all the physical response and tactile feedback you’d to expect from playing a traditional guitarist’s set-up. It doesn’t just sound like you’re playing a guitar, through a guitar speaker. It feels like it too.

Use the X200 anywhere you are using a modelling amp with Impulse Responses: in a backline cab or a monitor wedge on stage at home or in the studio.

Celestion Introduces the Vox Cabinets Collection of Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (December 16, 2019) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers celebrated for their classic guitar tones, is pleased to announce that they have teamed up with Vox Amps to meticulously capture the tones of three of their iconic speaker cabinets.  The result is the new Celestion Vox Cabinets Collection of Impulse Responses.  The new Vox Cabinets Collection, along with the expansive collection of authentic Celestion guitar speaker tones, is available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

The new Vox cabinet collection of impulse responses have been created using the same painstaking recording techniques applied to all of Celestion’s own classic speaker impulse responses, with expert sound engineers have faithfully capturing the distinctive tones of three VOX cabinets in several configurations:

  • VOX V212C 2×12 open back containing two Celestion G12M Greenbacks
  • VOX 212 HWX 2×12 open back containing two Celestion Blues
  • VOX V412BN 4×12 closed back containing four Celestion G12M Greenbacks

Available singly or as a collection, these speaker impulse responses offer the authentic tones of high-quality VOX cabinets cabinet to add to any arsenal.

Each VOX cabinet has been sampled using the same pro-quality microphones (Shure SM57, Royer R-121 and Sennheiser MD421) in the same six positions as the other Celestion impulse responses – as well as an additional rear position for the open back cabinets. This gives you 18 (or 21) tone options for each cabinet, plus our usual extra mic mix options.  In addition, each cabinet has been recorded using Neumann TLM 107 room mics (Left, Right and Stereo) to mix in as desired to achieve that preferred tone.

The new VOX cabinet speaker impulse responses are all downloaded in .WAV format for maximum compatibility with a wide range of leading DAWs and amp modellers.

The Celestion Vox Cabinet Impulse Responses join all the other acclaimed guitar speaker Impulse Responses such as the:  A-TypeCelestion BlueCelestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Celestion Ruby, Classic Lead 80, G10 Greenback, Heritage G12H 55Hz, Heritage G12M, G12 EVH, G12K-100, G12-35XC, G12T-75,  G12-50GL Lynchback,   G12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo Creamback, V-TypeVintage 30 and other models as well as Bass IRs including the BN10-200XBN15-300X, PULSE10, PULSE12 and PULSE15.

Guitar processor manufacturers supported include (but are not limited to) Atomic Amps, Fractal Audio Systems, Kemper, Line 6, Logidy, Positive Grid, Two Notes, Headrush and Yamaha. The Celestion IR files may be downloaded in the sample rate and length appropriate for the hardware being used or as a complete package of all rates and lengths. Certain third party hardware requires the files to be converted into a proprietary format before use. Celestion Plus.

How old is my Celestion speaker?/When was my Celestion made?

Most Celestion chassis drivers have been marked with a date code (two numbers and two letters), denoting the exact date of manufacture. These codes are added on the production line and are found in different locations depending on the age (or type) of speaker.

Date codes are expressed in the form of two digits (representing the day of the month 01 to 31) and two letters, one being the month, the other being the year. What you need to do is
1. track down the code,
2. refer to the date code table that provides an accurate record of the codes used throughout the years.

The Celestion G10 Vintage is the natural progression of the respected Vintage 10 speaker, delivering original British rock attitude with powerful and rich tones.
